Terms of Use

This website, reflectionrecovery.org (the "Site"), is operated by Reflection Recovery. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else's use of the Site. We may revise these terms at any time by posting an updated version on this page; continued use of the Site means you accept the revised terms.

Not medical or professional advice

**The content on this Site — including the essays, the Days Sober Calculator, and the Signature Wall — is provided for general information, education, and community support only. It is not medical, mental-health, or addiction-treatment advice, and it is not a substitute for professional diagnosis, treatment, or care.** Reflection Recovery is a recovery community and publishing project, not a treatment facility or healthcare provider, and nothing on this Site creates a provider–patient or counseling relationship.

Always seek the advice of a qualified professional with questions about a medical or mental-health condition, and never disregard professional advice because of something you read here.

**If you or someone you know is in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, U.S., 24/7). For substance-use treatment referrals and information, call SAMHSA's National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 (free, confidential, 24/7). In an emergency, call 911.**

Day counts shown by the calculator and on the Signature Wall are community-shared milestones offered for encouragement. They are calculated from dates visitors and commenters provide, and we do not verify them and make no representation as to their accuracy.

Documentary and participation projects

From time to time we invite adults to take part in filmed or written projects (such as the study described on our Participate page). Participation is voluntary and is governed by a separate written agreement and release signed by each participant. Nothing on this Site constitutes an offer of, or a guarantee of, selection or participation, and contacting us about a project does not enroll you in it.

Intellectual property

Unless otherwise noted, all content on this Site — including the essays, text, graphics, logos, and the book *Reflection* — is the property of Reflection Recovery and R. W. Dixon and is protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You may read and share links to our content. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from it without prior written permission, except as permitted by law.

Comments displayed on the Signature Wall remain the content of the people who posted them on Facebook or Instagram.

Donations

Reflection Recovery is a nonprofit organization in the process of applying for recognition of tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Form 1023). Until the IRS issues that recognition, donations are **not** tax-deductible as charitable contributions. Donations are processed by Zeffy under its terms; please review your donation before submitting, and contact us with any questions.

External links

The Site links to third-party websites and services, including Amazon, Zeffy, Calendly, Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Following a link is at your own discretion.

Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Reflection Recovery and R. W. Dixon will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or its content.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of **Virginia**, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
